Srinagar, Oct 25: Expressing serious concern over the plight of Kashmiri prisoners lodged in various prisons in and outside the J&K, APHC spokesman said that in absence of basic facilities including medical care, majority of resistance leaders and activists lodged in various prisons are facing tough time.
He said resistance leaders including Shabir Ahmed Shah, Altaf Fantoosh, Advocate Shahidul Islam, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Mehrajudin Kalwal, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Farooq Ahmed Dar and businessman Zahoor Ahmed Watali languishing in Delhi’s notorious Tihar jail and others lodged in Srinagar Central Jail that include Masrat Alam Bhat, Ashiq Hussain Fakhtoo, Asiya Andrabi, Fehmeeda Sofi, Muhammad Shafi Khan, Aqif Ahmed, Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar, Muhammad Yousuf Mir, Ghulam Jeelani, Farooq Ahmed Dagga, Muhammad Sidiq Ganai, and dozens of others are facing and callous attitude at the hands of the jail authorities.
The spokesman said that the jail authorities are even depriving these inmates from being produced before the required courts for hearing in their cases. He said that it is height of oppression that family members of most of the inmates are denied meetings with them.
Meanwhile, strongly condemning the arrest of UJC chief Syed Salahudin’s son, Shahid Yousuf, in New Delhi, the spokesman while terming the move as a pure political vendetta said, Government of India is on the path of crushing the pro-freedom leadership by intimidating them through involving their family members.
The spokesman said that NIA is being used a tool for this purpose in Kashmir but these tactics can’t suppress the genuine and sacred struggles like Kashmir. (KNS)
