JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik aghast over the plight of inmates

Syed Sajid Ali Bukhari of Kotli has served 22 years in jail and despite court orders is being kept in confinement illegally// JKLF

18th October. 2017// Chairman JKLF Muhammad Yasin Malik has expressed his anguish over the plight of many inmates who have been languishing in different jails from many decades and despite court orders are not being released. Citing the case of a prisoner from Kotli Azad Kashmir, namely Syed Sajid Ali Bukhari who has completed 22 years of imprisonment in different Indian and Kashmiri jails, JKLF chairman said that this JKLF activist was arrested in 1995 and kept in many jails across India. He was kept in Varanasi jail for a long time and then shifted to Sangroor Jail from where he has now been shifted to Kotbalwal Jail. Recently he completed 22 years in jail and despite completing his jail tenure and court orders to release him; he is not being released and thus illegally kept behind bars. Syed Sajad is seriously ill in jail and no proper medical facilities are being provided to him which is endangering his life.

While condemning this illegal confinement of Syed Sajid Ali Bukhari, JKLF chairman appealed ICRC and other human rights groups to intervene into his matter and save the life of this human being from the wrath of Indian oppression
