Says he should go through history, will acknowledge JK dispute
Srinagar, Oct 01: Hurriyat Conference (M) strongly denounced the continuous house detention of its chairman Mirwaiz Muhammad Umar Farooq even on the eve of the sacred occasion of Ashura stating that disallowing Mirwaiz from carrying out social, political and religious activities is nothing but a political vendetta on part of the government.
In a statement issued to KNS, Spokesman said since past several decades, Mirwaizeen have been addressing religious gatherings on the eve of Ashoora and Mirwaiz was scheduled to address gathering at Alam Sahab(RA) Narwara to pay tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain(RA) and martyrs of Karbala. However, due to constant house detention Mirwaiz couldn’t make it to the venue.The spokesman also denounced the government decision to impose restrictions in 13 police stations converting entire Srinagar especially downtown into a military garrison
Meanwhile, reacting to the RSS chief Mohan Baghwat’s statement that the Indian constitution needs to be amended to fully assimilate Kashmir in India, the spokesman said that Baghwat should go through the history and he will come to know that Kashmir is a dispute acknowledged by the world’s highest forum UN.
The spokesman said that Baghwat seems to have forgotten that there are 18 resolutions with regard to Kashmir issue pending before the UN for implementation. He said Kashmir issue has to be either resolved through implementation of UN resolutions or through tripartite talks between India Pakistan and the main party the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
Spokesman said that no power on earth can change the basic nature of Kashmir dispute neither would any power prevent the pro-freedom leadership and the freedom loving people of Kashmir from demanding their birth right, right to self-determination. (KNS)
