NC leader demands motorable bridge over Jehlum near Convent School

‘We need to decongest over loaded Abdullah Bridge’

Srinagar, Oct 05: National Conference Provincial Vice President and Incharge Srinagar, Budgam & Ganderbal Parliamentary Constituency Mushtaq Guroo Thursday demanded the construction of motorable bridge instead of pedestrian bridge over river Jehlum near Presentation Convent School.
Speaking during the review meeting of District Development Board Meeting Guroo said, “There will be no benefit to general public and daily commuters since there are already two foot bridges, in the one kilometer stretch one being the Zero Bridge and the other at Lal Mandi near Museum”.
He said the need of the hour is the fast construction of a motorable bridge which would ease the heavy traffic load, decongest the already over loaded Abdullah bridge and Lal Chowk area and provide a way in any way out for the daily commuters and general public so that they reach home earlier and do not waste their valuable time in huge traffic jams”.
He said this issue is being politicized due to the fact that the original proposal of construction of motorable bridge was approved by the earlier government.
“As per expert opinion, the height of the bridge is to be raised to make it suitable and traffic worthy as a motorable bridge”, he said.
Guroo also lashed out at the present PDP-BJP for its failure to come upto the expectations of the people and said that the policies of the present government are not people friendly. (KNS)
