Srinagar, Oct 24: A day after Government of India appointed former Intelligence Bureau Director Dineshwar Sharma as its representative to initiate in Kashmir, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday arrested Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin’s son Syed Shahid Yusuf in connection with 2011 funding case.
“Yusuf was arrested today in Delhi after he was called for questioning at the NIA (National Investigation Agency) headquarters in an old case of funding registered in 2011,” reports said.
A resident of Soibugh in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, Yusuf was arrested in a case (RC-06/2011/NIA/DLI), pertaining to financing of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen.
NIA statement issued reads that Syed Shahid Yusuf, over the years, has been receiving and collecting funds through international wire money transfer from Aijaz Ahmad [email protected] Maqbool Bhat, member of HM, an absconder in the aforesaid case, originally resident of Solina Payeen, now residing in Saudi Arabia.
Yusuf, a postgraduate in Agriculture is presently working in Agriculture Department of Jammu and Kashmir government, as village Agriculture Extension Assistant. (KNS)
