PDP pays tributes to Ghulam Rasool Gayoor on his 12th death anniversary

Srinagar, Oct 22: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) paid glowing tributes to eminent scholar and educationist, Sayed Ghulam Rasool Gayoor, on his 12th death anniversary.
Terming Gayoor a multifaceted personality, the party President Mehbooba Mufti and Vice President Mohammad Sartaj Madni has said that the deceased had devoted his whole life for the betterment and up-liftment of the people. Recalling his contribution in the field of education and literature, both the leaders said the deceased besides being a scholar, educationist and writer of great repute was well-known social and political leader as well.
Senior party leaders Muzaffar Hussain Baig Mohammad Dilawar Mir including Party General Secretaries Nizamudin Bhat, Qazi Mohammad Afzal, Rafi Ahmad Mir, legislators, District Presidents and Zone President also paid rich tributes to Late Gayoor.
Meanwhile a function chaired by Hon’ble Minister Syed Farooq Andrabi at Tagore Hall Srinagar was also organised yesterday by Cultural Acadamy to pay tributes to late Gayoor. The participants recalled Gayoor’s contribution as an academician, poet and political activist. They said that best tribute to him would be to unite the society through cultural and moral values.
The participants also stressed on research work on Gayoors contribution and literary work. They urged his son Showkat Gayoor to bring more late Gayoors writings in public domain to provide poetic and literary support for younger generations. (KNS)
