Samsung silently launches a new 4G enabled budget phone in India today. It is the Samsung Galaxy J2 2017 edition. The new J series smartphone is seen listed on the company website. However, Samsung, as of yet has not confirmed the price of the device, but does say that it will most probably estimate around Rs 7350. But then, Samsung also mentions that this price is subjected to change at the time of the availability.
So, as of yet, there are no details about the price tag and availability of the newly announced Galaxy J2 (2017). The full specs of the phone have been revealed. Going by the display, the new Galaxy J2 (2017) doesn’t differ much from its predecessor – which is the Galaxy J2 (2016), rather it is a little smaller in size. The Galaxy J2 (2017) comes with a 4.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display with 540×960 pixels resolution. While on the other hand, the 2016 edition of the phone comes with a 5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive display.
The key feature of the phone is that the device comes with something called the Ultra Data Saving feature. As the name suggests, with this feature the users of the phone will be able to save wastage of mobile data and have a seamless browsing experience. “Browse seamlessly and save data while you stream videos, shop online or check out your favourite apps. Ultra Data Saving compresses data and restricts background apps from consuming data. So that you get the most cost efficient 4G experience,” writes Samsung on its India website.
In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy J2 (2017) comes 1 gig of RAM memory and a storage capacity of about 8GB which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. The 4G enables smartphone is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core Exynos processor and runs on Android operating system.
Coming to the camera department, the new Galaxy J2 comes with 5-megapixel sensor at the back. While on the front it fits a 2-megapixel selfie shooter. The back camera also comes with auto focus and LED flash. The phone also comes with dual SIM support. On the connectivity front, the J2 comes with 200mAh battery which is removable. Samsung claims that the phone lasts for about 9 hours of internet use, 41 hours of playback time, and 12 hours of talktime.
Samsung Galaxy J2 (2017) comes in two colour variants — Metallic Gold and Absolute Black. The smartphone will be available for buying in the upcoming days, however, Samsung hasn’t revealed any details on the same as of yet.
