Srinagar, Oct 15: Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Dr Shafqat Khan along with Joint Commissioner (Works), Executive Engineers (Right & Left), Executive Engineer (City Drainage Division), Executive Engineer (Mechanical), Chief Sanitation Officer, Chief Transport Officer conducted tour of Srinagar city particularly Sheri Khaas areas to review sanitation and overall developmental works including beautification and installation of street lights.
While reviewing various ongoing developmental works of Corporation, Dr Shafqat Khan instructed the concerned engineering wing to go with speedy work on construction of community toilets at identified places particularly for construction of women’s toilet block.
He further met various delegations & civil society groups and instructed Engineering Staff to immediately start construction of exclusive women toilet blocks
Works Wing of SMC apprised him that at least 30 toilet blocks have been proposed for construction and the work at several places have already started.
Commissioner reviewed the pace of ongoing civil and drainage works and set deadlines for each activity
Instructions were also passed to the lower staff that those subordinate engineers who do not supervise properly and ensure quality of work shall be strictly dealt with which shall be followed by harsh recommendations to be sent to Government for further action.
While assuring the delegation regarding speedy disposal of the ongoing works, Dr Shafqat Khan told them that Government is committed to deliver high quality of civic amenities including a sustainable drainage network for the city and said that funding under various centrally and State sponsored schemes including Asian Development Bank shall be spent with high accountability on ground.
