SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 22: Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Asiea Naqash, Sunday met a deputation of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Employees Union who called on her here.
The Minister, while interacting with the delegation, said that the employees of SMC should work towards the beautification of Airport Road to give a facelift to the whole place.
Asiea said that SMC should work in synergy with the government to make the city clean.
Later the deputations appraised the Minister about the present structure of the office body of the corporation and said that over the years Srinagar has increased both in terms of population as well as area.
The delegation informed the Minister that to manage this vast area there is a need to reorganize the Corporation which was last done in 1970.
They said that their DPC is long overdue and should now be approved as earliest as possible. The delegation urged the Minister that some posts of higher level have been created and need approval from the government.
They also said that there is a need to engage more sweepers and sanitary supervisors for the comprehensive sanitation of Srinagar city.
The deputation apprised Naqash that the grant in aid should be enhanced in favour of SMC as the city is expanding both in area and population wise with each passing day.
The Minister assured the deputations that their demands would be appropriately addressed and all their problems would be sorted in the timely manner.
Naqash asked the employee union to fully support the government in making Srinagar city one of the cleanest in the country.
