Srinagar, Oct 30: Doctors Association Kashmir(DAK) in a meeting chaired by its  President Dr Suhail Naik has stressed upon for early start of heating system in hospitals, as the night temperatures are dipping.”With mercury dipping in the valley, patients and attendants are facing huge inconvenience as the wards literally freeze during nights” Dr Naik added.
Furthermore with freezing night temperatures, it is difficult for doctors and paramedics to work efficiently and it can derail the patient care.” 
DAK further  said the extreme cold might further aggravate the condition of chronic obstructive lung disease(COPD) patients and urged to start the heating system in all the  health institutions across the Valley.It was further deliberated upon that “the cold stress can prove fatal for newborn babies and can cause hypothermia in them in the immediate post natal period.”
The meeting was also attended by its senior Vice President Dr Mir Waseem, General Secretary Dr Owais H Dar , Chief Spokesperson Dr Irshad Muntazir , Media & Publicity Secretary, Dr Masood ul Hassan among other office bearers.
DAK appealed the Hon’ble Health Minister,Mr Bali Bhagat to issue directions to the authorities for early start of heating system in the hospitals so that patient care does not suffer.
