Srinagar, Oct 07: incarcerated JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik and seven other JKLF leaders and activists including zonal general secretary Sheikh Abdul Rashid, Zonal organizer Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Muhammad Azeem Zargar, Basharat Ahmad Butt, Nazir Ahmad of Pulwama, Meraj ud din of Soitaing and Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah who were arrested yesterday while protesting against the growing attacks on Kashmiri women have been shifted to central jail Srinagar on a judicial remand and they remain to lodge there. JKLF chairman was arrested yesterday morning when police raided his residence and others were apprehended from Press enclave when they were staging a peaceful protest against braid chopping incidents.
Terming these arrests as an evident support of so-called rulers to criminals involved in braid chopping, A JKLF spokesman has said that instead of doing something to apprehend criminals involved in attacks on women, so-called rulers and their police is trying to suppress the voices that are being raised against these gruesome criminal acts. He said that arresting, beating, incarcerating and torturing everyone who in a peaceful manner wants to register his or her protests against oppressors and criminals has become an order of the day and Jammu Kashmir has been turned into a police state. He said that every little space on peaceful activities has been choked and every voice is being suppressed and all this is being done under the garb of so-called democracy.
