Stresses upon mass participation of young blood in such sports events
Srinagar, Oct 27: “The Department of Youth Services and Sports is hosting two National Level Sports Championships in the Month of December this year and every effort will be made to make it a great success.” This was stated by Minister for IT/TE/Youth Services and Sports, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari while speaking to the meeting of senior officials of youth services and sports department at civil secretariat here.
He also stressed upon the Mass participation of young blood in such sports events. He assured that every possible support will be provided to the Department of youth Services and Sports for this purpose. The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary for Youth Services & Sports Department Hilal Ahmad Parray and Director Youth Services & Sports Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad.
The National Level events are being organized by the Department Of Youth Services & Sports under the aegis of National School Games Federation of India at Jammu. Football tourney is being organized for under 17 years boys from 11 to 17 Dec,2017 while as the National Level Event in Wushu for U-17 & U-19 Boys shall commence from 19 to 23 December 2017.
Ansari while expressing utmost joy over the participation of the state Youth in the 62nd National School Games said that it really gives me immense pleasure to learn that 1090 (boys) and 788 (Girls) have participated in various disciplines of 62nd National School Games (NSG) and the achievements of our young players in these events is something we all should be proud of.
In different National Events J&K state bagged 16 Gold, 30 Silver, 72 bronze Medals during 2016-17 While learning about the details of student participation at the domestic level he said that in the first two phases of current Annual Calendar of Sports activities, a record number of 2.20 lac students have participated in more than 49 sports disciplines in all the 22 Districts of the state so far which is very encouraging. He however, directed the Department of Youth Services and Sports to carry forward this attitude and bring a vibrant change in the sports culture of the state by involving youngsters in games and sports in large number.
Commissioner Secretary for youth Services and Sports, Hilal Ahmad Parray provided details about the progress of work of the newly constructed campus of Physical Education College, Ganderbal in the meeting. He said that the first phase of the college was constructed at the cost of Rs.30.39 crores and the proposal for the construction of second phase has been submitted to the planning Department.
The Minister was apprised by Director Youth Services and Sports; Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad that the field staff of the Department of Youth Services and Sports has always shown utmost dedication in organizing such important events and no stone will be left unturned for the smooth and successful conduct of the forth coming National Level Tournaments.
