‘Shah’s arrest in twelve year old fabricated case is a conspiracy’
Srinagar, Nov 23: Democratic Freedom Party Thursday held a peaceful protest rally and demanded suitable medical aid to its incarcerated leader Shabir Ahmad Shah who is languishing in infamous Tihar jail and is suffering from very serious ailments. However, police foiled their protest and detained scores of its members, spokesman said.
According to the statement issued to KNS, the DFP spokesman said that the protest was held despite all sorts of restrictions by police like sealing the party office and arresting the party secretary general Moulana Mohammad Abdullah Tari early morning.
The protesters were holding banners and placards depicting the deteriorating condition of their leader. Police arrested many protesters who were led by senior party leader advocate Fayaz Ahmad Sodagar. The arrested protesters included Mohammad Yousuf Mir, Molvi Mudassir, Mohammad Ibrahim and Mohammad Sabit. (KNS)
The protesters said that to arrest Shah in a twelve year old fabricated case is a conspiracy against his person who is fighting a noble and just cause of right to self determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir State for last five decades. Shah has spent more than thirty years in different jails and interrogation centres for his political ideology clearly indicating political vendetta against him.
Shah has been declared as “Prisoner of Conscience” by Amnesty International for his consistency and contribution towards the movement.
Indian government and its secret agencies have got nothing against Shabir sahib dill date. He is being humiliated by every means to depress him morally and break his strong will. His health is deteriorating after every passing day as Shah was already suffering from different ailments before shifting to Delhi, Tihar jail. Authorities are denying medical facilities to him even after receiving the court orders regarding it.
After getting contempt notice from court the jail authorities referred him to JB Panth hospital, Delhi and Safderjang hospital where doctors advised installation of pacemaker but till now nothing has seen done. We demand immediate medical aid to Shah sahib at any reputed hospital of Delhi like AIIMS.
Irony of the case is that doctors have advised pacemaker which means Shah sahib is suffering from serious heart ailment but when the family members asked the documents for the hospital, the jail authorities told them to approach court and the court gave one week time for the same.
We appeal the human rights organisations of the world like Amnesty International, Asia Watch etc to impress upon Indian government for providing of medical aid to Shah.
Meanwhile, a Freedom Party spokesman strongly condemned the sealing of party office and arresting of Moulana Tari. The spokesman said that such undemocratic measures have no place in the civilised world. He also condemned the arresting of peaceful protesters. (KNS)
