Meaningful dialogue needed to end bloodshed: Tari
Srinagar, Nov 04: The Democratic Freedom Party has welcomed the recent statement of US secretary of state Rex Tillerson on Kashmir and said the only impediment in resolution of this longstanding dispute is the unwillingness of New Delhi.
DFP secretary general Moulana Abdullah Tari in a statement issued to KNS said the US secretary of state’s statement vindicates our claim that Kashmir is an internationally acknowledged dispute and that the world community’s mediation can guarantee the solution to it.
Giving reference to party chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah’s stand, Tari said this issue needs to be resolved in a peaceful manner by taking all the stakeholders on board for a meaningful dialogue.
He said people of Jammu Kashmir have been stressing upon Indian leaders to grant them their birth right of self-determination as promised by India’s first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
The DFP secretary general welcomed the international community’s intervention in Kashmir dispute and termed it a right step towards the resolution of the issue that has been the bone of contention between two nuclear neighbouring nations who are facing challenges from poverty and political uncertainty.
Stressing on the resolution of Kashmir dispute as per its historical background, Tari said it needs to be resolved the same way as Croatia, East Timur and South Sudan.
He said meaningful dialogue between all the stakeholders needs to be initiated in order to put an end to bloodshed and prevailing political uncertainty in the subcontinent. (KNS)
