SRINAGAR, NOV 27: Director General Prisons S K Mishra today visited Central Jail to review the arrangements for security and management put in place here.
The DGP was given a guard of honour by the Jail personnel and subsequently inspected the entire Jail premises. He gave directions to expedite the ongoing construction work in the jail.
The DGP was accompanied by Amicus Curie G R Tantray, who was visiting the jail on the directions of High Court. Both the DGP and Tantray interacted with the jail inmates as well as staff and inspected various vocational training programs presently going on in Central Jail Srinagar.
Later, the DGP also chaired a meeting with Superintendent Central Jail Srinagar, Officer Commanding guarding the outer parameter of the Jail and Medical Officer Central Jail Srinagar. The proposals put forth by the officers before the DGP pertaining to security and management of the Jail were given due consideration. The DGP stressed for proper health, hygienic condition, medical-care and providing a healthy diet and other allied facilities be made available to the prisoners round the clock as per the provisions of J&K Jail Manual.
The DGP expressed satisfaction with the functioning and management of the jail and appreciated the efforts put in by Superintendent Central Jail Srinagar, in particular, Hilal Ahmad Rather improve the functioning of the jail.
