Disaster management mock drill held in Handwara

KUPWARA, NOV 18: On the instructions of District Development Commissioner Kupwara Khalid Jahangir, an awareness-cum-mock drill was held at DPL Handwara regarding rescue, relief, and rehabilitation measures and precautionary measures needed to be taken during any eventuality.

          The programme was organized by State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) in presence of officers of Civil Defense, Police, Tehsil administration, experts, Red Cross volunteers and other concerned.


           On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara, who was the Chief Guest, impressed upon the SDRF and concerned to impart necessary training to youth of the district regarding first aid, rescue, relief and other measures required during man-made or natural disasters.

          The incharge SDRF unit Kupwara said that 4000 volunteers have been engaged with the rescue operations in the district and have been imparted basic tactics needed to tackle situation arising out of disasters.
