‘Some 200-300 crores utilised for overall development’
Srinagar, Nov 28: Minister for Social Welfare, ARI & Trainings and Science & Technology Sajad Gani Lone Tuesday said the frontier Kupwara district has witnessed a rapid change in the last two years.
Sajad who heads a faction of Peoples Conference, is a minister in PDP-BJP coalition government, said some 200 to 300 crores have been spent in Kupwara for its overall development. “Such a huge amount of money wouldn’t have been utilised in the last 20 years,” he said.
Lone, who is MLA from Handwara constituency of the district, said the district has now got good roads; better hospitals and the people don’t have to move out of the district for treatment, “Our district hospital has three-fold doctors now.”
The minister according to the KNS correspondent said there is no dearth of food grains and other essential commodities as this government has kept everything available. He said for the first time since 1947, the district will have its own power, as the 50 MW power project will be made operational in next few months.
Apart from power project, the district has got bio-technology Park and much more is to come during his tenure as a minister.
Lone as per the KNS correspondent said this while conducting public grievances in his constituency. He met several delegations and listened to their grievances in Dak Bunglow Handwara.
During the camp, people apprised him about their problems and difficulties. Lone is on a three-day visit to convene grievances redressal camps. (KNS)
