Srinagar, Nov 5: Government forces on Sunday afternoon launched a cordon-and-search operation in Munghama village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Official sources told news agency GNS that a joint team of army’s 55 RR, SOG and CRPF cordoned off Dangar Mohalla in Munghama following specific inputs about the presence of some militants.
Soon after the joint team laid the seige in the area, the locals mostly youth took to streets and started pelting stones on forces.
The paramilitary CRPF and police used tear smoke shells to disperse them, they said.
When reports last came in, the search operation amid clashes was going on in the area. (GNS)
