HC seeks report on infant mortality at GB Panth since 2012

Srinagar, Nov 10: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Thursday granted Medical Superintendent of GB Pant hospital one week’s more time to submit details about the infant mortality rate since 2012 till date at children hospital in Srinagar.

“At the request of AAG (M I Dar) time is granted for filing requisite updated status report, be filed by or before next date,” a division bench of the court said while hearing a Public Interest Litigation. It list the PIL on 16.11.2017

Previously, the court had observed that a status report filed on behalf of G B Panth Hospital does not indicate the complete picture with regard to the number of infants died in hospital from the period of 2012 till date on monthly or quarterly basis.

After perusal of the report, the court had observed only facilities available in the hospital has been detailed out and no mention of mortality rate.

It was necessary to have the position at present, the court had observed further. The counsel representing the hospital had submitted the mortality percentage has been brought down by implementing the various measures as directed by the court.(GNS)
