Illegal construction goes unabated in Pahalgam

Anantnag, Nov 30: The illegal construction goes unabated in Dahwato Yanner Pahalgam while the authorities are acting as mute spectator wioth tasking no action against the norm violators.

As many as four illegal constructions are currently coming up and the authorities have failed to curb the violators.
Chief Executive Officer of Pahalgam Development Authority, Mushtaq Ahmad Simiani said that the area where these illegal constructions are coming doesn’t fall in his jurisdictions.

Locals alleged that the wildlife department has failed to protect buffer zones in their jurisdictions.
They further added that wild life department in Pahalgam has become ‘nuisance’ for whole area as the officials posted in this range hardly perform their duties.

They said these officials are posted in Pahalgam range from last many years and have taken things for granted.
“It seems they think they are not accountable before anybody,” they alleged.

Locals of the area have appealed Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag for intervention and demanded tough action against the officials of wild life or forest department who have ‘allowed’ these illegal constructions in this area.
Repeated attempts to contact forest minister failed as his phone was switched off. (KNS)
