NEW DELHI, NOV 25– 13th, SaMaPa a three day Sangeet Sammelan held at Kamani Auditorium, New Delhi, organised by Pandit Bhajan Sopori and Abhay Rustum Sopori in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture Language.
Various young and talented artists have participated and showed their talent by playing their instruments like tabla, harmonium, sur santoor, pakhwaj, sarangi and vocal too.
During the sammelan, former Deputy Director General, Prasar Bharati Rafeeq Masoodi and the top most Kashmir based singer Waheed Jeelani have been selected for this year’s SaMaPa prestigious award.
Both the personalities have been selected for their tiresome contribution in art, culture, literature and music. The duo from Kashmir has been pride of the land for their contribution in their respective field.
Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts (SaMaPa), of Pandit Bhajan Sopori and Abhay Rustum Sopori announced the names of the recipients of this year’s SaMaPa awards.
The announcement was made by the General Secretary of SaMaPa, Music Maestro Abhay Rustum Sopori in New Delhi.
‘SaMaPa Nund Rishi Samman’ has been conferred upon anthropologist T N Madan for his contribution to socio-cultural history of Kashmir.
Rafeeq Masoodi has been awarded for his enormous contribution to Kashmiri Art, Culture & Language.
Waheed Jeelani, the renowned singer from Jammu &Kashmir, is awarded for his immense contribution to Kashmiri music.
The Samman carried cash award of Rs. 21,000 and has been named after Sheikh-Ul-Alam, the great Sufi Saint of Kashmir, a spiritual legend who’s contribution to Kashmiriyat is enormous. The award is given to the personalities with enormous contribution having done path-breaking works in the folk and regional culture.
