Srinagar, Nov 27: APHC chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq paid glowing tributes to late journalists Khawja Sanaullah Bhat and Sufi Ghulam Muhammad on their death anniversaries. Mirwaiz said that both of them were the pioneers of journalism in Kashmir and their contribution to its growth and development in the state is immense. Mirwaiz said their in-depth understanding of political and social issues facing the people and the manner in which they portrayed it ,shows both their literary capabilities and their close connect with the people especially the common masses. Mirwaiz said people of Kashmir will always remember these great sons of the soil with respect and affection.
Mirwaiz also condoled the death of veteran journalist and social activist Om Saraf. He said the late journalist had close relations with Shaheed e Millat Mirwaiz Farooq as they both shared the common concern for the rights of the downtrodden and harmony and good will among all communities living in the state.
A party delegation led by Mir Ghulam Rasool visited the house of late Om Saraf in Jammu and conveyed Mirwaiz’s condolences and sympathies with his son Pushp Saraf and other members of the bereaved family.
Meanwhile APHC Spokesman has strongly condemned the continuous house detention of Mirwaiz and caging a huge population in their homes by imposing Curfew like restriction in most of the parts in Srinagar including Downtown. He said these acts reflect the dictatorial attitude adopted by the government aimed to weaken the popular political sentiment of the people of Kashmir
