Srinagar, November 6: Nocturnal protests raged in Banihal area of Jammu and Kashmir after a security guard was shot and injured by Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel who allegedly mistook him for a militant.
Sources told GNS Showkat Ahmad Nayak, son of Gulam Nayak, resident of Chapnari Banihal was injured after SSB personnel posted at an under construction railway tunnel, five kilometres from Banihal, fired at him around 10 pm.
Nayak, according to sources, is posted as a security guard with a construction company. As the news of his injury spread, people took to streets and staged protest demonstrations. Meanwhile, Nayak was shifted to Banihal hospital where he is being treated for shoulder injury.
Pertinently, two SSB men were injured after they were fired upon by suspected militants at Banihal September last.
Police had said that three local madrassa students were involved in the attack and all of them were arrested within days after the attack along arms and ammunition.(GNS)
