Also accuse them of illegally grabbing land, detaining Patwari, withdrawing his security cover
Srinagar, Nov 3: Sub Divisional Magistrate Thanamandi has written a letter to SSP Rajouri, alleging that local SDPO and SHO were running ‘parallel’ administration after the duo alleged thrashed revenue staff and detained a Patwari in the town for removing a barbed wire put “illegally” by the police.
“Yesterday (on Thursday) my Patwaries and other staff removed the barbed wire placed illegally by SDPO Iftikhar Chowdhary and SHO Koran Chalotra as it had blocked the pathway leading towards the patwar khana of Thanna, Husplote and Shahdara as my staff and general public was suffering,” reads the letter by Mohammad Afzal Mirza, SDM Thandamandi.
The Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Thannamandi and SHO came in the evening and started “abusing and threatening” the Revenue Officer and other revenue staff in full public view, he according to news agency GNS said.
“On the direction of SHO Thannamandi, Police detained one of my patwari namely Abid Javaid and thrashed in front of other staff, who was performing his official duties,” he says, adding, “On one hand both the SDPO and SHO tried to illegally grab the acquired land of Revenue Department and on the other hand they illegally detained my patwari. SHO Police Station Thannamandi also humiliated my Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar by stopping and searching their vehicles”.
To his “surprise”, the SDM says the SDPO Thannamandi also withdrew his PSO with “malafide intention and revengeful attitude.”
“Now, there is every apprehension that these two officers may implicate my officers and staff in any false case in future. The withdrawal of my security cover also indicates their bad intention. They are trying to run parallel administration within the Sub-Division and their co-operation in day to day administration is negligible since last two-three months,” the SDM says. He said that under such circumstances, running administration has become very difficult.
“Under such circumstance, it is requested that such type of police officers may kindly be dealt with heavy hand so that they don’t repeat such shameful acts in future,” the SDM adds. (GNS)
