Kalam Foundation today organized one day historic seminar in the auditorium of Govt degree college Poonch in which hundreds of intellectuals from all walks of life participated.
The theme that was debated in today’s seminar was “Pangs of Partition and Education a Way Out” in which First Chief Information Commissioner of India was Chief Guest, while Chairperson State Commission for Women and former Vice Chancellor Baba Ghulam Badshah University Dr Masud A Choudhary were present as Guests of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Masud A Choudhary said that, Partition is a history and we have to move on. He said that, there is hardly any doubt about the effects and impacts of partition but we have to look forward and there is hardly any other way out. Masud Sahab while addressing particularly to the people of Poonch said, i find lack of education among people here and he said, Education is the remedy to all the issues we are confronting with.
Speaking on the occasion, Editor BBC Urdu service and Chairperson State Commission for women Nayeema Ahmed Mehjoor said that, we have been made to suffer from time to time. We have always shown loyalty but in return we were not considered as loyal always. She said that, Situations turned ugly after 1953 when Shaikh Abdullah prisoned. She also said that, Centre needs to be more generous towards Kashmir and centre state relationships needs to be more cordial for tge betterment of the people of this region.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Wajahat Habibullah, who happens to be Deputy Commissioner Poonch in 1975 said that, he is feeling nostalgic. He said that Partition was very much destructive and Poonch has suffered badly. He also said that, Central Government must be very cordial towards Kashmiris because they are our own people and we can’t let them suffer.
Initially, Chairman Kalam Foundation Khalil A Banday welcomed all guests by introducing one by one and also said that, partition has proved immensely destructive for every single citizen of Poonch and it has very ill effects on all religions.
Apart fron these, Naib Mohtamim Jamia Zia Ul Uloom Poonch Maulana Sayeed Habib, Ch Asad Noomani and Principal GDC Poonch Prof Musaraf Shah also shared their views.
