21 ATBs distributed in Shopian among meritorious male students

SHOPIAN, DEC 02: Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Parvaiz Sajad Ganie today formally launched the distribution of All Terrain Mountain Bikes (ATBs) among the eligible meritorious male students at Mini Secretariat Arahama Shopian.

The ADC handed over 21 such bikes to the meritorious students of the district. It may be recalled that at the launch of scooty scheme for girl students last year, the government had announced the launch of a similar scheme for meritorious boys in schools.

Speaking on the occasion, the ADC said that the present dispensation is making concerted efforts to perk up the education system in the State. He stressed the teaching community to redouble their efforts so as to help produce students that are an asset for the State. He said the education sector is the most important and priority sector for developing and grooming the future generation of the State.

On this occasion, Assistant Commissioner Revenue said Education Department is rolling out an annual calendar of extracurricular activities for students besides regular studies. He said Department of education is holding a science exhibition soon which would give the students a platform to display their creative talent.

Chief Education Officer, Tehsildar Shopian, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Zonal Education Officer Shopian, officers of various wings of Education Department and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
