Srinagar, Dec 28 : Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) president, Abdul Qayoom Wani Thursday welcomed the process of regularization for casual and other temporary employees.
In a statement issued to KNS, EJAC president said, “We have hailed the government particularly Chief Minister, Finance Minster, Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary to finance for initiating regularization process for casual and other categories of temporary employees but the SRO 520 issued by the finance department is full of flaws and ambiguity.”
Wani said that excluding casual labours of PSU’s and local bodies, Municipal Corporations, F. P shop dealers and contingent paid employees from regularization process is total injustice with these poor employees who are waiting for years together for regularization.
“These poor employees have worked on meager amount and have been putting their sweat and blood for serving common people,” he said.
Wani said that one more ambiguity in this SRO is that casual labours having less than ten years service is undecided and casual and other categories of labours getting salary less than minimum wages act/daily waged rates is also undecided and these poor employees are desperately waiting for justice.
“On the one hand government has deprived them from the benefit of minimum wages act for years together against labour law but on the other side putting condition of salary on their regularization is total injustice and this injustice needs to be redressed at an earliest,” he said.
“We have welcomed the process of regularization but not at the cost of poor employees who have been exempted from the regularization,” he said, urging upon Chief Minister and Finance Minster for immediate modifications in SRO 520 so that these poor employees desperately waiting for their regularization may have a sigh of relief.
Wani assured these poor employees that EJAC leadership will utilize all the possibilities to get their genuine issues redressed and EJAC will not hesitate to take any step in this regard.
He said that EJAC has decided to approach Chief Minister, Finance Minster and Chief Secretary for immediate modifications in SRO 520.
EJAC president assured the employees that unless and until the issues and problems of employees are not redressed EJAC will continue its fight for the same as per the aspirations of employees. (KNS)
