Srinagar, Dec 18: Strongly condemning the brutal killing of Asif Iqbal of Thandipora, Kupwara at the hands of Indian forces, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has said that the killing of an innocent driver has again proved the fact that New Delhi is at a killing spree in Kashmir.

A DFP statement said that Indian forces, having unbridled powers and impunity under the black laws like AFSPA, kill people at their will so that Kashmiri people are silenced.

Thousands of Kashmiris have been killed in such cold blood and merciless manner and not even a single soldier or policemen involved has ever been brought to book or tried by law which only exhibits the lack of accountability of the Indian forces.

Terming the killing of Asif Iqbal, a cold blooded murder, the DFP said that every lane of Kashmir has been turned red with the blood of innocent people over the past three decades of intense repression.

The DFP stressed upon the world human rights bodies to shun their path of silence and take a strong note of the situation Kashmiris are facing. The party extended condolence and sympathies with the family members of slain Asif Iqbal.

Meanwhile, the party condoled the demise of mother of senior journalist, Zahir-ud-din and said that deceased was a kind and pious lady. A party delegation visited the house of Zahir-ud-din and extended condolence and solidarity to him.

The Freedom party also paid rich and glowing tributes to late legend Chaudhary Ghulam Abbas on his death anniversary.

Termingthe late leader as a fighter of the rights of Muslims, the DFP statement said that late Chaudhary Ghulam Abbas reorganized the socio-political organization Young Men’s Muslim Association, which was established earlier in 1909 and was the only platform that Muslims were using to raise their political voice in Jammu and Kashmir.

Termingthe late leader as a great man of ideology, the DFP statement said that he will always be remembered for his role he played in Jammu and Kashmir and later in Azad Kashmir. (KNS)
