SRINAGAR, DEC 31: The certificate ceremony of Civil Defense Srinagar was today held at JK Computers and Steno Type Institute Khanyar. Deputy Controller Civil Defense Srinagar, Nighat Aman was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Nighat highlighted the importance of disaster preparedness and sensitizing young generation during disasters and eventualities.
She said that youth act as first responders in any disaster and it is very important to sensitize and train them in this regard. She said that Civil Defense Department is planning to provide disaster preparedness training to a large number of volunteers in future so that they are able to respond to any emergency effectively.
During the award ceremony, approximately 30 students and volunteers who have undergone basic training in first aid, firefighting, search, and rescue and community engagement by expert trainers were awarded basic training certificates. Volunteers also demonstrated practical exercises and mock drills on the occasion.
