Mir lashes out at policies of Modi government

Jammu, Dec 28 : Congress celebrated its 133rd foundation day today in a colorful function at PCC HQ Shaheedi Chowk Jammu.
Led by President JKPCC, G.A. Mir a large number of Senior Congress leaders, PCC functionaries, Legislators, DCC & Block Committees and Frontal Organizations celebrated the day amidst beating of drums and distribution of sweets by the DCC Jammu (U) led by Anil Chopra.
PCC Chief hoisted the Congress tricolor at Congress HQ amidst large gathering and singing of National song.

Hari Singh, Mumtaz Khan (MLA), Ravinder Sharma, Farooq Andrabi, Rajnish Sharma, General Secretaries Manjit Singh, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Vikram Malhotra, Th. Manmohan Singh, S.S. Channi, Hilal Shah, Namarata Sharma, and Shah Nawaz choudhary, Ex-MLAs Swarn Lata, Indu Pawar, Krishan Chandar Bhagat, Gurbachan Kumari Rana, Th. Shiv Dev Singh, G.L. Chalotra & Ashok Dogra DCC Presidents Subash Gupta (Ex-MLC), Sain Ab. Rasheed & Ashok Gupta, Heads of Frontal Organizations (Shiv kumar Sharma (INTUC), B.S. Sambyal (Seva Dal), Pranav Shagotra (Youth Congress), Neeraj Kundan (NSUI), were prominent among those present on the occasion.
Addressing a gathering PCC Chief congratulated the party Cadres over the foundation day of the party which was founded on this day in 1885.
He said that Congress party has a history of struggle and sacrifices for the Nation during the 132 years and united the entire country under one Umbrella to attain freedom and there after laid strong foundation of this country, which has emerged as one of the strong nations in the world, in seventy years after freedom.
Mir said that Congress ideology of secularism and unity in diversity is the only way to keep the country as a strong and united Nation.
He lashed out at the policies of Modi government and BJP-RSS which have created divisions in the society.
He said that under young leader Rahul Gandhi Congress has proved that the Modi led BJP would face a tough time in the 2019 elections, as the falsehood and fake propaganda against congress is getting exposed with every passing day. “The Gujarat elections have proved to be a turning point in the politics of the country and Congress cadres are reenergized by the tremendous support and dynamic leadership of Rahul Gandhi,” he said.
He asked the party cadres to get ready for Panchayat elections in the State although the present PDP-BJP government has already taken away the powers of Panchayats by unreasonable and undemocratic amendment to the Panchayat Raj Act.
Mir said that present coalition has completed more than three years but there is no achievement on any front. The congress will expose the government inside the legislature and outside in the ground on various fronts and asked cadres to be ready for this.
Senior Congress leaders and Former PCC President Peerzada Mohd Sayeed referred to the historical role by the congress party and its leaders in the pre and Post independence and said era and said that Congress alone can keep the country together in view of its secular and inclusive policies.
He was critical of the policies and programmes of BJP and Modi government which have created wedge between the people on different slogans and planks. He also lashed out at the present dispensation in the State which has vitiated the political and security scenario in the state.
He regretted that government failed to conduct the Anantnag Lok Sabha by-elections and now talk of holding Panchayat elections, where as the Panchayat Raj system has already been weakened by this government.
Senior Vice-President Sham Lal Sharma, while referring to the sacrifices of Congress Leader during its long history said that Congress alone has capability to carry alone all sections of the society. He accused the BJP of surrender on all issues and promises made to the people of Jammu region and questioned its failure for a fair and equitable share in political, social & economic spheres to Jammu region. He asked to people to teach them a lesson for their failures and betrayals and emphasized for a decisive struggle to expose them on double standards.
Senior Congress leader and Former Minister Taj Mohi-ud-din referred to the achievement of the congress party in attaining freedom from mighty British regime and thereafter laying strong foundation of the Nation as a result India has emerged as one of strong and leading nation in the world.
Former Minister & Vice-President Raman Bhalla in his address recalled the supreme sacrifices of the great leaders of the party during 132 years and said that India is known in world as a peace loving nation because of the philosophy of unity in diversity followed by congress.
He referred to challenges of the time and asked the party cadres to counter the false propaganda of BJP .
Kanta Bhan, Th. Hari Singh & Vikram Malhotra also spoke on the occasion and recalled the role of Congress and its leaders.
