Stresses shifting of Kashmiris lodged in Indian jails

Srinagar, Dec 24: Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party has expressed satisfaction over the release of its district president Shopian, Tanveer Ahmad of Trenz and stressed upon immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners including its ailing chief Shabir Ahmad Shah.

Tanveer Ahmad was arrested on April 4, 2017 and was detained under draconian Public Safety Act (PSA). He was lodged in JIC, police station Shopian, district jail Islamabad (Anantnag) and central jail Srinagar during his incarceration.

A party delegation headed by Er Farooq visited Tanveer Sb and expressed satisfaction over his release. The party praised his conviction towards the freedom movement. Tanveer Ahmad joined the freedom movement in 1988 and since then he has undergone many hardships however he faced them with utmost courage and patience.

Meanwhile, the party expressed serious concern over the deteriorating condition of Kashmiri prisoners in and outside Jammu Kashmir jails. The party demanded immediate shifting of all Kashmiri prisoners including its ailing chief Shabir Ahmad Shah lodged in Tihar jail to the Kashmir Valley. 

The party statement said that despite the falling health of Kashmiri prisoners in different Indian jails no medical treatment or care is being provided to them. The party appealed to the Amnesty International, Asia Watch, and other human rights organizations to take cognizance of the plight of Kashmiri prisoners.
