Journalist injured while covering protests in Shopian

Shopian, Dec 18: Senior video journalist was injured while covering clashes between forces and protesters in Batmurran area of Wanpora in Shopian district on Monday evening.

Reports said that clashes erupted after gunshots were heard during the cordon in the said area.

The journalist who was injured after stone hit his fingers was Aijaz Dar, of Shopian who works for national news channel India Tv, as cameraman.

Soon after the incident , the said journalist was hospitalized with a serious injury to his finger caused by a stone.

“I was covering the protests and suddenly a speedy stone hit my fingers , due to which one of my fingers got badly wounded” Aijaz Dar told this reporter on phone, adding that he is being treated at hospital now.

Meanwhile , Encounter started in the area between militants and security forces few minutes back.
