Will return extra money, says DC
Srinagar, Dec 02: The residents of Madwa and Wadwan areas of Kishtwar district are up in arms against the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) department for distributing the ration cards on high rates.
The residents as per the KNS correspondent, Muhammad Abbas said that the officials of CA&PD department are not distributing the ration cards on government rates. “The officials are distributing the ration cards on high rates. The APL ration cards which as per the government rate should be distributed at the cost of Rs 100 is being provided to the families on Rs 180 while the BPL ration card is being provided at the cost of Rs 140 instead of Rs 70 as per the government rate,” they said.
They said that AAY category, which is being considered as the poorest section are getting their ration cards at the cost of Rs 100 instead of Rs 30.
The residents said that the officials are minting money from the poor sections here. “We approached to the higher ups in this regard but nothing has been done,” the locals said.
They appealed the concerned Minister to look into the issue and redress their genuine grievances at the earliest.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Angrez Singh told KNS that they are looking into the matter. “We are looking into the issue and the extra money taken from the people will be returned,” he said. (KNS)
