Srinagar, Dec 28: ICAR-Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture, Srinagar organized one day on “Root Crop Carnival” for the vegetable growers of Budgam, District, (J &K)
A total number of 50 farmers participated in the Carnival. During the programme the farmers were shown the different nutra enriched hybrids/varieties of Carrot, Turnip and Radish. The programme was organized keeping in view of the huge potential of root crop in the District and to aware the farmers regarding the various benefits of root crops.
Dr D.B. Singh, Director ICAR-CITH, Srinagar and other scientists (Dr. Selvakumar, R. Dr Geetika, Dr. Anil Sharma, Dr. Wasim Hassan Raja, Dr Alima Shabir (SRF) and Dr Khursheed SMS KVK Budgam,) imparted awareness on various aspects of successful scientific cultivation of root crops to the farmers. Director ICAR-CITH emphasized upon the farmers about the need of nutra-enriched root crop vegetables for various health benefits and emphasized upon the farmers for adaptation of scientific intervention in root crop production, so that they will get the maximum benefit.
