Kulgam, Dec 6: Several areas of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district Wednesday observed shutdown to mourn the killing of a local militant and his two associates.
Local militant Yawar Bashir Mir of Hablish village of the district was killed along with his two associates Furqan Ahmed and Abu Maviya in Bhadragund-Bonigam encounter on Srinagar Jammu highway on Monday.
Reports said that all the shops and business establishments remained shut in Kelam, Mir Bazar Qazigund, Pehlu, Devsar and other areas.
Large contingent of police and Para-military troopers were deployed to maintain law and order in the town.
Meanwhile, life returned to normalcy in Kulgam main town where according to reports all shops and business establishments remained open while transport normally plied on the roads. (CNS)
