Srinagar, Dec 20: The traders from Zero Bridge Rajbagh Wednesday expressed their anger towards Government apathy as it has undertaken road widening process for Zero-Bridge, IG link road without compensating and rehabilitating them.
Government has already laid foundation for upgradation of road from Zero Bridge to IG road with a length of 10.5 Kms.
The project will be executed at an estimated cost of Rs 28.79 crore and will cover areas between Zero Bridge to IG Road via flood spill channel and Kursoo Bund road (5.25 kms), area from Lal Mandi to Jawahar Nagar (1.75 kms) and areas from Lal Mandi to IG Road via Hazoori Bagh, Bakshi Stadium and Tulsi Bagh including Indoor Stadium link (3.50 kms).
The traders from Zero Bridge Rajbagh who staged protest said that they are not against the road widening plan, but want government to rehabilitate and compensate them.
The protesting traders told news agency CNS that their business will get affected badly and they will not be able to meet their both ends. “We request Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to address our grievances,” the shopkeepers who held protest under the banner of City Traders Guild said.
President, Altaf Ahmed Dar appealed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to look into the matter. (CNS)
