Srinagar, Dec 7: Government forces on Thursday defused a grenade in Seer Jagir village of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district while cordon and search operations (CASOs) were launched in multiple villages of Anantnag district.
Official sources told news agency GNS that locals found a grenade lying on roadside in Seer Jagir village of Tral today and informed police about the same. They said a police party and other forces rushed to the spot and summoned bomb disposal squad. The bomb disposal squad defused the grenade without any loss of life or injuries.
Meanwhile, multiple CASOs were carried out in several villages of Anantnag district today by government forces after receiving inputs about the presence of militants. The CASOs were conducted in Dialgam, Laalan and Kamad villages by joint teams of army, CRPF and police’s Special Operation Group. During the searches, no one was arrested by forces while no militant was intercepted after which operations were called off.
In Pulwama district, clashes erupted between government forces and locals after a CASO was launched in Trichal village. Acting on some information about militants this evening, the forces cordoned off Trichal and launched searches. However locals disrupted the operation by pelting stones on forces.
There was no contact of government forces with militants when reports last came in. (GNS)
