About 08 kilograms of charas recovered;
More arrests and recoveries expected
Srinagar, Dec 22: Jammu and Kashmir Police while continuing its drive against drug menace, has arrested a drug peddler and recovered about 08 kilograms of charas from his possession.
Acting on an information, a police party of District Police Srinagar laid a naka in Qamarwari area. During naka checking, a sumo bearing registration number JK05A-4325 driven by Mohammad Shafi Chopan son of Habib-ul-Lah Chopan resident of Devar Lolab was intercepted. On checking the vehicle, about 08 kilograms of charas was recovered.
A case FIR number 297/17 under section 8/20 NDPS has been registered and further investigation of the case is in progress. More arrests and recoveries are expected.
People of District Srinagar has expressed their gratitude to J&K Police Chief Shri S.P. Vaid and IGP Kashmir Shri Munir Khan who have been personally monitoring the drive against this menace. They have also appreciated the role of Police for launching effective campaign against drug peddlers and sale of psychotropic substances which are adversely affecting and ruining the future of the youth of the valley.
District Police Srinagar has appealed the local residents to come forward and help the police to eradicate this menace from the society and also appealed the parents of addicted youth to come forward without any social stigma to avail the free facilities of drug de-addiction created by J&K Police at Drug de-Addiction Centre PCR, Kashmir.
