SDM’s absence leaves people to lurch at large
Bandipora, Jan 06: The residents of Sumbal area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district are facing immense hardships as the authorities have failed to fill the vacant post of Sub District Magistrate from last 13 months.
“From past 13 months, we are immensely suffering as the post of SDM Hajin is lying vacant,” the locals said.
Locals told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that SDM Sumbal was transferred almost 13 months ago but the authorities have failed to fill the vacant post there, resulting in immense hardships to the people.
“In absence of the SDM, the works of the people have got halted. In absence of SDM, hundreds of files are biting the dust in SDM’s office from the last 13 months,” they said.
Locals of Hajin alleged that the government offices here witness least attendance due to SDM’s absence.
“The issue of vacant post has been raised a number of times, but nothing has been done in this regard. SDM post is lying vacant since December 2016,” locals rued.
However, sources said the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora has made several requests to the Govt for filling up the post, but irony is that that state government is yet to take any decision in this regard.
DC Bandipora Sajad Hussain said that “we had already requested government to fill the vacant post of the SDM in the Sumbal Division.” (KNS)
