20 Water Supply Schemes completed in Wachi 

Six out of 12 filtration plants made functional, work on others underway

 Shopian, Jan 09: The government Tuesday said that 20 Water Supply Schemes have been made operational in south Kashmir’s Wachi constituency while the work on the other 14 Schemes are underway at the cost of Rs 4541 lacs.

The estimated cost of these schemes is Rs 4541.40lakhs and the amount of Rs 2198.73 lakhs has been utilised so far.

In a written reply to a question raised by MLA Wachi Aijaz Ahmad Mir, the government said the department of PHE has also started the process for tapping of Zainapora Spring and water supply scheme Sofipora Hydergund will be tapped from the same spring.

About the number of filtration plants in Wachi constituency, the government stated that out of the 12 filtration plants, six have been made functional, three are under revamping and three are non-functional. “The three non-functional plants will be made fully operational during the next financial year 2018-2019.”

According to the government, the villages where the filtration plants are presently operational are Rampathri, Rampathri, Mohanpora Thairen, Krawoora, Kiloora, Awnura.

The villages where the filtration plants are under revamping are Karewa-Safnagri, Trenz-Khurampora, Kunsow-Nooli. At Rampathri-Habdipora, Rampathri (Baskuchan) and Lose-Danew, the filtration plants are still non-functional.

About the status of tube wells, the government said that the tube wells in village like Lose-Danew, Mughalpora-Turkawangam, Manihal and Reshipora have been completed.
