Seeks immediate halt to random arrests in South Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 04: National Conference MLC Bashir Ahmad Veeri met Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and brought into her notice arrest spree of teenagers throughout South Kashmir and particularly in Bijbehara Anantnag and requested to stop it in the larger interest of peace.

Arrestingyouth radicalize them & create vicious cycle for sustenance of violence. Instead of arresting they must be provided with counseling for start of job oriented entrepreneurship so that they are made productive assets for society.

Dr Veeri demanded adequate & timely compensation in favour of people whose land has come under road widening in Bijbehara constituency, especially Srigufwara Khiram Marhama road.

Completion of Pending Aurder Batengu foot bridge was also assured by CM.
He also requested to look into SRO 202 as youth across the state are demanding to amend it & make it at par with normal services.

Dr Veeri also discussed power scenario due to which people are facing hardships and requested to ensure regular supply of power as per schedule.

He also discussed construction of multi specialty stadium on 450 kanals of state land near Nanil to focus the energy of youth in sporting activities to keep them away from disruptive forces.

He also asked to fence state land at high ground Anantnag which is under threat of encroachment. (KNS)
