Shopian, Jan 10: The killing of youth in Kulgam sparked clashes in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday.

Pertinently, after the killing of a militant in Kulgam, clashes had erupted in his native Khadwani village resulting in the killing of a youth identified as Khalid Ahmed.

Reports said that protesters in Shopian took to roads and pelted stones on government forces. In response, Forces lobbed tear-smoke shells to disperse them.

Witnesses said that protesters raised pro-freedom and pro-Islamic slogans.

The clashes disrupted normal life for hours in the district. (CNS)
