Pulwama, Jan 05: Clashes erupted between protesters and the government forces during a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in Kareemabad village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.

An official said that forces launched a CASO in Chekmohalla area of Karimabad during wee hours after inputs about the presence of militants.

Witnesses said that locals took to streets and pelted the forces with stones to disrupt the anti-militant operation.

The forces responded by lobbing teargas shells, triggering further clashes.

House-to-house searches were going on in the area when last reports came.

Meanwhile, the search operation at Rajpora culminated peacefully. KNT
