New Delhi, Jan 23: A Delhi court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of Syed Shahid Yousuf, son of Hizbul Mujhadeen Chief Syed Salahuddin, in a 2011 funding case till February 5.

District Judge Poonam Bambaywal also decided to hear the bail application moved by Yousuf, arrested and currently in the judicial custody, on February 5.

In his bail application, the Counsel for Shahid Yousuf said his client was not required for the purpose of investigation and no purpose would be served by keeping him in further custody.

Family sources told news agency CNS that the Judge was supposed to decide about the bail application on December 19 but that day, the Judge didn’t attend the court.

“We have been passing through difficult phase. Visiting New Delhi and Tihar Jail is both wastage of energy and time,” said a relative of Shahid Yousuf who is languishing in Tihar Jail number 8.

The family members and relatives appealed State Government to get the detainees shifted to Kashmir. “NIA is using dilly dally tactics in filing the charge sheet of Shahid Yousuf,” they said.

Yousuf was called by NIA to New Delhi where he was detained on October 24 last year. (CNS)
