Slain militant was a hardcore stone pelter: Police
Srinagar, Jan 09: A Hizb militant was Tuesday killed in an encounter that raged between forces and militants in Pehlipora Larnoo village of Kokernag area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, police said.
A civilian of was also killed in the subsequent clashes that eruoted in the native village of the slain Hizb militant.
“Kokernag police along with 19RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Pehlipora village of Larnoo in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kokernag. During the searches, militant hiding in the area fired upon the joint search team. The fire was retaliated, ensuing an encounter,” Police said.
They said that one militant was killed in the encounter who was identified as Farhan Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Mohammad Wani, resident of Redwani Khudwani, Kulgam.
“One INSAS rifle, two INSAS magazines and 42 rounds were recovered from the encounter site,” they said, adding that the slain militant was a hardcore stone pelter and a case FIR number 45/17 of Kulgam under section 147, 148, 149, 336, 332, 307 RPC was registered.

“He was also involved in many anti national/social and unlawful activities. Cases under section 10, 11, 13 ULAP Act has already been registered against him in Police Station Kulgam,” Police said.
Meanwhile, as soon as the news about the killing of a Hizb militant spread, the clashes reported in the native village of the slain militant.
Officials said that the youth took to streets and pelted stones on the forces during which the forces tried to disperse the agitating youth.
They said that a youth received bullet injuries during the clashes in Khudwani area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
The youth identified as Khalid Ahmad Dar (20), a resident of Khudwani in Kulgam district was critically injured and was rushed to District Hospital Kulgam for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.
Director General of Police (DGP) Shesh Pal Vaid confirmed the killing of a civilian in Khudwani. (KNS)
