Class XII, Jammu

and Kashmir State Board of School Education(JKBOSE), exam results were declared on Thursday morning. Around 55,163 students in Kashmir appeared in the Class XII exams and 33,893 cleared the test.
Iqra has scored 480 out of 500 marks in the Class XII board examination. She scored 92 in General English, 98 in Human Development , 99 in clothes for the family, 96 in extension Education  and 95 in Islamic Studies.
Till 10th class, Iqra studied in Mother Land High School, Nowhatta, Srinagar and later, since there were no Schools nearby that offered Home Science stream, She joined GGHSS, Kothibagh. Iqra belongs to a middle class family but still she managed to travel to Kothibagh to persue her dream subject.
When we talked with Iqra, She said that in Kashmir Home Science stream is given no priority by students & Govt of the state. Unlike many Schools for other Science, Arts & Commerce stream, There’s single Govt School in Srinagar running Home Science stream. I humbly request Govt to promote Home Science, not only in School but also in college level in the Valley. As of now, there are no such many Bachelor’s courses offered by colleges like there are for other streams, for example, If anyone wants to become a Nutritionist, she must move out of the valley to pursue the same.

And She also requested Education department & Govt authorities to include this subject in all Govt Schools and Colleges so that people may know the essence of this subject.
She credited her success to her parents and School teachers, especially Shaista Mam.
