Sopore, Jan 02 : Several shops were gutted in a fire incident at General Bus Stand Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on early Tuesday.
According to reports goods worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed in the blaze, while no casualties were reported in the accident, which took place at General Bus Stand Sopore , a busy hub of shops dealing in hosiery, plastic goods and other products.
Amin Lara a shopkeeper told Media that we noticed the smoke and soon saw huge flames erupting from some of the shops, Soon after a team of fire tenders rushed to the spot and started to douse the flames, However , the firefighters were able to save the remaining shops from being reduced to ashes after an effort with the help of police and locals, Lara added.
No loss of life was reported during the incident and the cause of fire was not known immediately officials confirmed to Media.
The fire brigade’ official told Media that after receiving the information about fire incident a team was sent to the spot, added that the actual cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile despite repeated attempts police was not available for comments.
