 Srinagar Jan 13: Muslim Conference Chairman and senior leader Prof Abdul Ghani Butt today addressed a huge gathering at Khanqah-i-Mualla which is dedicated to Muslim preacher Mir Syed Ali Hamdani. Prof Abdul Ghani said Shah Hamadan, the preacher came to Kashmir from the city of Hamadan in Persia in the 13th century. He is believed to be responsible for the spread of Islam in Kashmir. The Shah Hamadan stayed in Kashmir for many years and then left for Central Asia via Ladakh. He also built a mosque at Shey (near Leh). The Khanqah of Shah Hamadan was the first mosque to be built in Srinagar.

 

Professor while continuing his speech said, Kashmir is bleeding and it needs to be resolved in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He warned that if the issue of Kashmir is not resolved the entire South Asian region will continue to shatter and there will be no guarantee of peace and security in this region. 

 

Professor said, Kashmiries are making sacrifices and the people of Kashmir are the real masters of their land and destiny. From last 70 years Kashmiries demand the solution of the Kashmir Issue and Kashmir should be resolved in accordance with the wishes and aspiration of the people of Kashmir through a purposeful dialogue process and all the three parties India, Pakistan and the leadership of Kashmir should be engaged in the dialogue process and try to resolve Kashmir issue once for all.

 

He said that there is no doubt that Kashmir is a rebellious and tolerant nation and are peace-loving people. He said that Kashmiries want peace and want to live peacefully. Professor urged the rulers and politicians of India to make talks with Pakistan and with the Kashmiri people to resolve the problem so that people of Kashmir and entire South-Asia can have a safe future and live a prosperous life.
