Tangmarg, Jan 22: Locals from Dhobiwan Tangmarg area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district has accused Revenue Department of turning agricultural land into barren one.
Despite court directions, the Revenue Department is not allowing people to use the land they had bought from the owner of the agriculture land.
A group of locals from Dhobiwan said that they had purchased agriculture land from one Najeeb Ahmed Goni, a resident of Barzulla Srinagar. “When we started using this land, Revenue Department claimed that out of 77 kanals, the department owns 25 kanals. They not only occupied these 25 kanals but also prohibited us from using the land owned by us,” they told CNS.
These land owners said that despite court directions they are not being allowed to use their own land and it has turned into a barren one.
“We appeal authorities to impress upon Revenue Department to allow us to use our land,” they said.
When contacted, SDM, Tangmarg Abdul Aziz said that they want to handover the land to the real owner who is not approaching them. “The matter is in the court and we will accept court verdict,” he said. (CNS)
