Soldier succumbs; border firing toll mounts to 13

Jammu, Jan 24: An Army man, who was injured in cross-firing in Newshera sector, succumbed to his injuries at Army hospital in Rajouri district on Wednesday morning.

    An army spokesman said that one army man succumbed today morning following the injuries he had sustained in cross-firing in Nowshera sector.

He said that he was admitted to the Army hospital Rajouri and was under treatment.

    Calm prevailed along the LoC and the International border on Tuesday with no skirmishes reported between the armies of two countries following five days of shelling and exchange of gunfire.

    Earlier, seven civilians and five forces’ personnel were killed in the firing exchange. (CNS)
